The city of Boston gets a whole lot happier during the summertime, especially when you’re spending it on a sunny rooftop with a cocktail in hand. Here are our picks for some of the city’s best rooftop spots for happy hour.
1 Jerry Remy’s
Red Sox Nation unites at Jerry Remy’s Fenway location situated on bustling Boylston Street just steps from Fenway Park. When the Sox are in town, the popular restaurant overflows with fans and visitors alike who come here to pay homage to the city’s most beloved sports broadcaster and former Red Sox infielder. Order up a brew at this roof deck that overlooks Fenway Park and snack on fan favorites like the Rem Dawg hot dog, a half-pound frank topped with chili, cheese and onions.

2 Poe’s Kitchen at The Rattlesnake
One of Boston’s best rooftop bars is tucked away on Boylston Street in the Back Bay at Poe’s Kitchen at The Rattlesnake. After a day of shopping on nearby Newbury Street, head to this Back Bay location for some fun in the sun. Sip on a goji berry or cranberry jalapeno margarita here or an aged tequila, scotch, whiskey, bourbon or rye. We love the homemade sangria and blood orange julep that go well with the restaurant’s signature nachos topped with beans, asparagus, corn salsa, minted tomatillo salsa, salsa fresca, cotija cheese and sour cream. Summer never tasted so good.

3 Revere Hotel
Happy hour in Boston got a whole lot cooler when the Revere Hotel opened its roof deck pool. Located on the seventh floor of the Back Bay hotel, this urban oasis is home to beautifully landscaping, plush couches and private cabanas (available for rent) with the Boston skyline as your view. The poolside bar here serves up sweet concoctions like the Berry Vojito, Sangria Blanco and Razzle Dazzle that can be ordered as a single cocktail, served in a small pitcher or shared among lots of friends with the large pitcher with an order of spiced edamame hummus, Thai chicken lettuce wraps or lemongrass shrimp skewers.

4 Market Lounge
At first glance, if you are not “in the know,” you might walk past the unobtrusive Market Lounge located in the Financial District just off of State Street near Faneuil Hall not realizing there is a hidden gem of a rooftop located upstairs. Order up a specialty cocktail like the Broad Street Bourbon, Boston Tea Party or Summer Kiss and enjoy it on their recently renovated roof deck, which opens daily at 3 p.m. Every Thursday night, Market Lounge offers live acoustic music here as well.

5 The Whiskey Priest
The Seaport District is one of the hottest spots year round to take in a beautiful oceanfront view and no one knows that better than The Whiskey Priest. Located near the World Trade Center, this Irish pub has one of the most extensive selections of whiskies in town. Head out to the popular back roof deck after work to catch some afternoon rays while indulging in some whiskey infused traditional Irish fare.
