Dolce & Gabbana Venture into Watchmaking for Men
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are create watch designs for their male audience, based on Italian tradition.
How many ways can you look at a watch? Hardcore enthusiasts would be critical on the technicalities, like the extra features, movement and the like. Others would look at it as a fashion accessory, a part of a themed ensemble. Some just need to be in touch with the time. Then there are the people who would look beyond the dial and feel the tradition it evokes. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of the infamous brand Dolce & Gabbana fall under this last type.
“To us a watch is an item to love, collect, pass down. I love when people wear watches that once belonged to their grandfathers or fathers. I would love if this was the case with our watches in the future,” Dolce told The Guardian. Meanwhile, Gabbana’s devotion to watches has led him to wear two at the same time–a Rolex and a Cartier–like bracelets.
