London is often known as a fast-paced city of sharp style, championing some of the best of its homegrown fashion design talent. And with some of the best fashion schools around, graduates often go on to become household names ruling the catwalks. We take a look at the top five London fashion designers set to be making waves:

Richard Malone

Perhaps the baby of the pack, Malone graduated just this year, having won the prestigious LVMH Grand Prix scholarship. With sustainably sourced collections inspired by the likes of his Irish roots and the recession, Malone’s work has already been snapped up by luxury department stores and museums worldwide.

Inspired by the likes of Rei Kawakubo, Lawrence’s work with textiles is as impressive as it is innovative. Taking the mundane and reworking it into something completely new, Lawrence brings knitting techniques into the 21st century.

Craig Green

A protégée of Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East initiative as well as a top graduate of his class from the acclaimed MA Fashion Course at Central St Martins, Green already has a number of impressive accolades to his name. Watch out for his unique use of texture and print, as well as his warm colours and tones that sculpt the body.

Joanna Cave

Bringing a hint of the Mediterranean to her work, Joanna Cave uses the result of her mixed English and Greek upbringing to its optimum in her delicate yet striking pieces. An internship with renowned jeweller Scott Wilson gave her career the necessary boost and she has since exhibited at London Fashion Week. Steeped in tradition, her designs nevertheless hint at modern elegance and understated simplicity.

Founded by Kate Deeley, Kult Domini’s refined brand of luxury footwear exudes timeless sophistication. Each pair of shoes is handmade, using traditional methods and eschewing conventional shapes.
