SF Cocktail of the Week: La Mar’s Prickly Pear Margarita
There is little in life a good margarita can’t cure. If the rain has got you down, why not take a trip to sunnier climates by experiencing the sensational Peruvian cuisine at the Embarcadero restaurant, La Mar? Enjoy piping hot beef empanadas, crispy pork shank with corn pudding, and grilled sea scallops with green quinoa tamales. Order one of their addictive and potent prickly pear margaritas and toast to warmer weather. Can’t schedule a visit to the eatery? No worries, you can still make that toast with a prickly pear margarita—we reached out to La Mar’s team for the recipe. It’s the ideal after-work pick-me-up and makes an awesome accompaniment to your Super Bowl Sunday spread. Serve the brightly colored marg with nachos, chili, sloppy Joes, and spicy pepperoni pizza. La Mar’s Prickly Pear Margarita
1.5 oz tequila
1/2 oz prickly pear puree
1/2 oz agave nectar
1 oz fresh-squeeze lime juice
Combine all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice. Shake well. Double strain and pour into glass garnished with salt and filled with ice. Enjoy.
