Brett Ratner and James Packer’s RatPac Entertainment Announce Landmark Series At Hilhaven Lodge
On Wednesday Brett Ratner and James Packer’s RatPac Entertainment announced “In Harm’s Way,” a scripted multi-platform project inspired by the United Nations’ work around the world.
The project, created by emerging British filmmaker David Raymond, is an event-driven anthology mini-series that will dramatize true stories of UN staff who risk their lives working to ensure that the organization fulfills its mandate. Each season will focus on a specific crisis in a different country with the first season, written by Raymond, to be set during the 1999 East Timor crisis.
During the “Rat Pack” themed evening, remarks were made by hosts Ratner and Raymond, as well as by honoree Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Special guest Mariah Carey and emcee Larry King addressed guests from the stage. The project is the first collaboration ever between the UN and the creative community.
In attendance was Stevie Wonder, Naomi Campbell and Mariah Carey, who exchanged words of welcome with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Also on hand was Sophia Amoruso, Jordan Belfort, Camilla Belle, Lawrence Bender, Jim Berkus, Peter Bogdanovich, Rob Bourdon, Naomi Campbell, Julie Chen, Eva Chow, Lee Daniels, Chloe Flower, Mohamed Hadid, Nikki Haskell, Dakota Johnson, Stana Katic, Shawn King, Courtney Love, AnnaLynne McCord, Katharine McPhee, Les Moonves, Wolfgang Puck, Emily Ratajkowski, Shari Redstone, Nicole Scherzinger, Hedi Slimane, Brittany Snow, Sharon Stone, Kevin Tsujihara, Jim Wiatt and Taylor Wilson.
Ki-moon told the sparkling crowd that Raymond’s kind of narrative is key to showing the efforts of the U.N. to an international audience. “You are the ones who can motivate,” he remarked, “You have the global reach.”
