As China closes the gap itself and the United States to become the largest luxury market in the world, more and more luxury firms are turning eastwards. Wooing affluent Chinese customers has become a priority. The launch of the Illusion superyacht is one effort in this direction.

Under construction at the Raffles shipyards, the Illusion superyacht features elements from Rolls-Royce cars. In recent years, the Chinese hves proved their love for luxury vehicles. So Raffles is possibly hoping to court wealthy Chinese consumers with the luxury car angle.

The luxury yacht will be powered by two Rolls-Royce marine engines producing 3,000 hp each. The high-end engines from Rolls-Royce will give the yacht a maximum speed of 18 to 20 knots.

According to reports, Raffles is planning to complete construction on the luxury yacht by 2014. Yes, there is a long wait ahead. But the shipbuilders have released some information about this work-in-progress. According to reports, Illusion will be a 90-meter-long yacht offering the best of superyacht luxury. Guests and owners will enjoy using the swimming pool as well as open-air lounge areas. Also in the pipeline are a gym, a spa and a movie theatre.

The yacht will be built to accommodate 14 guests. Spacious double-bed staterooms will be available to house the guests. Additionally, the Illusion superyacht will be able to accommodate a 27-member crew.

It is still too soon to speculate about the price for this water baby. But it is safe to say that Chinese buyers could soon be queuing up for custom versions of this luxury yacht.
