Report from the CFDA 2010

Jane Cohan (in Rodarte) and Ricky Serbin

Ricky Serbin, who teaches fashion at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and also sells a line of vintage couture, attends the Council of Fashion Designers of America gala each year, and reports to us that the gala last night “was the best yet.”

Ricky, writing to us as he travelled back to San Francisco last night, attended the event with friend Jane Cohan, who was stunning in a Rodarte dress.

He said “Sarah Jessica Parker gave a heartfelt and moving tribute to Alexander McQueen, and then the entire final McQueen show came on, to opera. When they were standing there at the end, the stage flipped around to a boisery ballroom as a huge chandelier dropped from the Lincoln center stage!”

Isabella Rossellini presented Iman the Style Icon Award, who held it up as she remarked to husband David Bowie, “Move over honey, you are no longer the only icon in the family.”

San Francisco’s Alexander Wang won Accessory Designer of the Year, and his mom was his date. Another San Franciscan at the event was Nick Graham, founder of Joe Boxer.

“The after party was at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard, and we danced until 2 AM with Rachel Zoe, and all the designers really letting loose.”
