While  New Year’s Eve celebrations are either really exciting or really terrible we find that a relaxing brunch the morning after helps us ease back into the real world. New Year’s brunch should be leisurely and is best  enjoyed with only the closest friends and family who don’t mind swollen eyes and the need for relative quiet. Living in Dallas means that there are lots of fabulous options, so the most difficult decision is where you’ll go.

Whether you prefer chilaquiles or eggs benedict to cure your party hangover there’s a brunch that you’re going to love. We’ve done the legwork for you. Here are five of our favorite spots  in Dallas for your New Year’s brunch.

1 Taverna

While some may choose Eggs Benedict for their day-after-the-night-before breakfast we like the hash at Taverna. Made with brisket, peppers, onions, roast potatoes, and poached egg smothered in creamy hollandaise it's exactly what we crave when we've partied a little too much. Other options include the vanilla French toast, polenta and eggs al forno, or a variety of omelets.

2 Texas Spice

Texas Spice at the Omni Dallas is definitely one of our favorite spots to linger. They'll be serving a special New Year's brunch that includes poached lobster and shrimp, Adobo rubbed roasted pork loin, and chile rubbed beef tenderloin carved to order. There's also a brunch buffet with fruit, sweet rolls, eggs, eggs Benedict, and that blueberry sausage that we can't get enough of. There's no room to list all of it... Just go.

3 Bistro 31

Bistro 31 is definitely our choice for lunch when we're shopping at Highland Park Village but we've not invited ourselves to brunch there often enough. They'll be serving New Year's brunch from their regular menu. Start off 2016 with red beet cured Atlantic salmon on potato latkes, served with sour cream and American caviar. Soothe your tummy with the creamy lobster bisque, it's definitely a must try. There are also a variety of pastries and egg dishes on the menu.

4 Penne Pomodoro

There is no better way to start the first day of 2016 than with an expertly prepared Bellini. We like the sweetness and the bubbles never fail to make us smile. Follow that up with the savory waffle and we're happy. What's a savory waffle, you ask? It's a fluffy traditional waffle filled with bacon, mozzarella, parmesan, and jalapeno then topped with a sunny side up egg and hollandaise sauce. Other options include omelets and pastas. There are three locations to choose from.

5 Toulouse

Toulouse makes us feel like we're in Victorian Paris with it's elegant, decadent, and just a touch naughty ambiance. There is probably no better place to get New Year's Brunch if you'd love walking into a scene straight from Renoir. New Orleans style beignets with cappuccino sauce should be the first thing you order. Once that is out of the way the Omelette Provencal is a great way to get your vegetables for the day. Stuffed with ratatouille, spinach, and goat cheese it's one of our favorites.
