We're a week into San Francisco Opera's 2015-16 season, the final for General Director David Gockley. Just before the current season opened, we caught up with Gockley to ask him 10 questions relating to his achievements, what he would do over if he could and techies and opera.

We're just a couple of days away from the start of the 2015-16 San Francisco Symphony season, which will begin with an extravagant opening gala on Thursday, Sept. 24. The fabulous mother-daughter team of Dagmar Dolby and Natasha Dolby are co-chairing this year's festivities and recently hosted a party at the Valentino boutique in Union Square to get ready for their big evening.

The city is getting ready for the one of the most glamorous and elegant events of the year, the San Francisco Symphony Opening Gala, and what is the chicest way possible to celebrate?

It took San Francisco Opera nearly a year to find a replacement for outgoing General Director David Gockley but in the end didn't have to look very far. Matthew Shilvock, currently the Company's Associate General Director, has been named General Director of San Francisco Opera and will assume his new position as the Company’s seventh director on August 1, 2016 with a five-year contract through July 2021.

How fitting that a revolutionary and tech-forward city like San Francisco has the honor of being the locale for “Breguet: Art and Innovation in Watchmaking,” the largest exhibition of Breguet antique timepieces ever to be shown in the United States. Considering how Breguet's cutting-edge innovations transformed the nature of personal timekeeping, it is apropos because this exhibition clearly shows why Abraham-Louis Breguet is “the father of modern horology.” Emmanuel Breguet, historian, VP for Montres Breguet, took us on an exclusive tour of the exhibit, which will be on display at the beautiful Legion of Honor from Sept. 19, 2015 to January 10, 2016, before we enjoyed an elegant gala dinner attended by 300 Breguet fans from Europe, Asia and the United States on Sept. 16 at the museum.
