Russell and Montero Mundt announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on August 9, captioned with nothing more than a ring emoji and a white heart. The photos showed the couple at an intimate, candlelit dinner beside the ocean, with Montero Mundt holding up her left hand to display an oval yellow diamond ring. One image caught Russell kissing her as she showed off the ring; another captured the two of them at a table set beneath a darkening sky.

Reaction from the F1 paddock was immediate. Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli commented “Congratulations to you both, mate,” while Pierre Gasly, the Mercedes and Williams team accounts, and Formula 1’s own account all posted messages of support. The couple met in 2020 through a mutual friend, with Montero Mundt becoming a fixture at race weekends in the years since.

Originally from Spain, she moved to London at 18, earned a business management and finance degree from the University of Westminster, and built a career in finance before turning toward something entirely different: skin biology.

In June 2026, she co-founded Barriers alongside Óscar Valls Bartolomé, a skincare brand built on a specific and fairly unusual thesis. Rather than positioning products around correction, the brand argues for cultivation, treating skin as a living system that responds to sleep, stress, and consistency rather than aggressive intervention. Barriers previewed the concept in Miami during the Grand Prix weekend that April, then launched its core routine, a cleanser, serum, and day cream, that June. Its signature active, FF-Symbiotic, is developed from ingredients grown in an urban vertical farm the founders operate in Barcelona, a detail that gives the brand a research-driven angle most celebrity-adjacent skincare launches don’t bother with.

In an era when the celebrity-adjacent brand has become its own overcrowded category, Montero Mundt is building something that does not rely on adjacency to make the case for itself. The Spanish beauty press found the product before they cared about the backstory.

Russell, for his part, has spent 2026 stepping further into the same lifestyle space Montero Mundt now occupies from a different angle. In April, AMAFFI Perfume House named him Global Brand Ambassador, pairing the Mercedes driver with photographer Greg Williams for a campaign built around five signature fragrances and the idea that precision translates across disciplines. The partnership expanded further in May with the opening of AMAFFI’s European flagship on London’s Sloane Street, where Russell appeared as the face of the brand’s international push into London, New York, and Singapore.
