On Feb. 25, Heesen Yachts launched their YN 15250 at their shipyard facilities in Oss, the Netherlands. With a gross tonnage of 499 GT and a top speed of 24 knots, the new, 50 meter yacht is among the world’s fastest of its size. Christened “Satori” – meaning sudden enlightenment in Zen Buddhism – by her owner, the yacht is the first of Hessen’s new all aluminum design. The delivery of Satori is scheduled for April 2011, after undergoing intensive sea trials in the North Sea.

The food is well balanced and consistent, complex flavors abound. Start off with some Hokkaido scallop cured with lime sugar, green strawberries, coriander and wood sorrel or maybe the “Banh Mi” with foie gras . Then try the Pintade Fermier slow cooked in caramel, cinnamon, with mustard greens and coriander. Plenty of vegetables for you Vegans. The Brussel Sprouts with caramelized shallots fish sauce and vermouth was quite nice.

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York City’s foremost French cultural center, will once again welcome top créateurs de mode for its annual Fashion Talks series.
