Bacardi Cup Chooses Celebrity Artist Stephen Gamson as Offical Artist for Poster

What started out as a three-day event with less than 10 boats in 1927, now attracts more than 200 sailors each year from some 23 countries and the attention of international media. The BACARDI Cup is legendary as one of the few sporting events in which weekend enthusiasts have the opportunity to compete head on with Olympian and World Champion athletes.

The 84th annual Bacardi Cup started on Sunday, March 6 and will continue through March 12. Tomorrow, March 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be The Bacardi Happy Hour at the Sailing Village in the Coconut Grove Convention Center. Local Miami celebrity artist Stephen Gamson will be present to sign the official posters that he designed for the guests attending. ”I am excited to be associated with the 84th annual Bacardi Cup Regatta for its rich history and reputation. We are so fortunate to be celebrating the beautiful environment and pristine waters here in South Florida, especially during this exciting event,” Gamson said.

Stephen Gamson is an artist of the communication age; his optimistic and unique pop style reflects bold and bright colors and his playful iconic symbols captivate the viewer and translate his images into a universal language. He was also noted as the official artist for the City of Miami’s 114th birthday celebration in 2010. Additionally, he created images for Café Bustelo, Miami Beach Polo, Lamborghini North America, Monaco Grand Prix, Intercontinental Hotel in Miami and the New World Symphony. Gamson supports many local and charitable organizations including: Ronald MacDonald House, Olivia Newton John’s charity, Pink and Blue for Two, Down Syndrome Association of Miami, Kristi House, and many others.

Gamson is currently working on a commission to paint the exterior of a Gulfstream Jet for a private collector in South Florida. He is also fabricating an out-door aluminum sculpture for a home in Ibiza, Spain. Gamson artwork is collected by A list celebrities, corporations and art enthusiasts worldwide. I hope to see you at this Haute event tomorrow.
