Top Chef Roast: One of Many New Happenings for ArtWalk

Just for the Downtown Art Walk event and exhibit in Downtown Los Angeles, Top Chef season two winner, Ilan Hall, will be roasting a pig on Thursday, March 11, as part of the art festival. Hall will be roasting on a spit in front of his restaurant, The Gorbals. Scottish bagpipers will be there to aid in celebration of the occasion.

Artwalk Lounge is returning on the same day as well from 6-9:30 p.m. near 5th and Main. It is known as the central point for all things Main.   This time around, Artist Seaton Brown unveils his work, “A Tribute to the King of Pop.” How vague. Other happenings on the menu include popular “non-band” Dalai Sonido, a ticket giveaway contest for “Para Los Ninos” Cinco de Mayo celebration and storytellers Chrysalis.

Downtown Artwalk welcomes a recent addition to the family, Robert Twomey and Tim Shwartz’s The Wold is Ours. This new gallery is a collaboration of new works that embody the ambivalent and ever-changing form of New Media art and culture for which the aforementioned two pioneer.

Downtown Art Walk is an ongoing, self-guided tour and art exhibit that aims to expose artists of all walks of life (pun intended)– commercial art galleries, museums, and non-profit arts venues. It all began in September 2004 with an enormous following of tens of thousands of visitors every month. There are over 40 galleries and museums involved in this project.
