For interior designers of a certain pedigree, there is no paint company quite like Farrow & Ball. The British brand has been the unofficial paint for taste making homeowners since 1946. Farrow & Ball’s carefully crafted selection of colors are insanely popular. Over the years the company has not only become the source of durable trendsetting paint—and wallpaper, it’s also a well-established color expert. When they decided to move beyond walls to the next natural extension of home decor—the floor—Farrow & Ball had to seek a partner with equal esteem. A relationship with The Rug Company, a 20-year old purveyor of luxury handcrafted rugs, also with roots in England, was a no brainer. Allow us to introduce you to the recently launched line of Farrow & Ball rugs handmade by the Rug Company.

Dubbed the Complementary Colour Collection, the collaboration consists of 12 rugs that effortlessly blend with Farrow & Ball’s six neutral paint groups. The rugs are hand loomed by a team of expert weavers in Nepal who use fine quality hand-spun yard of Tibetan wool and silk. They are available in three different textures, plain wool, cut and loop stripe, and wool with a silk border. Customers are able to mix and match color, size, and texture. “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the leading global brand in contemporary handmade designer rugs,” Charlotte Cosby, the head of creative at Farrow & Ball said in a statement. “Like Farrow & Ball, The Rug Company is passionate about color, craftsmanship, and quality.”

One accent color and one neutral color of rug was selected to match Farrow & Ball’s six neutral groups. Decorators pick from traditional, yellow based, red based, contemporary, easy, or architectural styles. The rug colors, which range from a wine red to pale pink to a teal navy, come with pairing guidelines to which Farrow & Ball paints would look the best. As Milly Wright, the creative director for the Rug Company explains it, “color is the cornerstone of interior design. It is infinitely versatile and, when used well, the possibilities are endless. A celebration of pared back simplicity, this collection makes it very easy to choose a beautiful handmade rug for any interior scheme.”

The Complementary Colour Collection is available now at Rug Company’s across the globe. Prices start at $1,110 (6×4 feet) or $46/per square foot.
