Jenni Kayne, the young American designer known for her timeless wardrobe classics that span both age and seasons (a fan favorite among trendy Angelenos) recently opened her namesake retail store at Newport Beach’s hot new shopping spot, Lido Marina Village, late this summer. Here, Kayne has created an all-encompassing lifestyle that speaks to modern women today, and for the first-time Orange County shoppers can enjoy her curated mix of apparel and lifestyle products. The designer, who also has boutiques in West Hollywood, Brentwood and Montecito, provides her unique aesthetic point of view at her shops, which is inspired by her professional and personal pursuits—a warm, inviting minimalism that’s translated from her apparel collection to the modern traditions of family: entertaining, travel and food. Here, Kayne invites us inside her new 1,541 square foot store (which is located next to the soon-to-be-opened Nobu) and across from Steven Alan and Zinque, and chats about what shoppers can expect to find at her trendy new digs.

What are elements of the store that stand out or were important to you?
The overall aesthetic of the store is consistent with our other retail locations, warm and true to our California roots, but with a slightly nautical concept to work back to the marina at Lido Village.  Our store is primarily white with bleached walnut wood that reads similar to driftwood, and we will incorporate brass elements in the fixturing.  The architecture references the original design of the space, with high pitched ceilings and large windows.  The store uses a lifestyle approach in terms of layout, mixing hanging space for apparel, shelving for our home and gift products, and a seated area for clients to try on shoes.

What are some Hero/unique home & design products that are available at the store and you would like to highlight?
We’re excited to bring the Jenni Kayne lifestyle merchandising mix to our new home in Lido.  We’re especially looking forward to offering an assortment of textiles including beach blankets and terry backed towels for customers to use on trips to the beach.  We’ll also offer sunglasses and hats from our favorite third party vendors including Barton Perreira and Janessa Leone.

Why did you want to open the store in Lido?
We’re very excited about the curation of brands at Lido Village and believe the mix will bring an elevated yet forward attitude to the Newport area.  We love the lifestyle concept for the village, as it will incorporate a mix of shopping, dining and even outdoor water activities that clients and their families can enjoy.  We also have tons of clients from Orange County that shop in our LA locations and we’re excited to offer them a chance to shop in their own neighborhood.
