Haute Living Magazine, partnering with luxe private aviation company JetSmarter, celebrated Anthony Mackie and his May/June cover of Haute Living Los Angeles with a VIP dinner party held at Vandal in New York on May 18.

The event celebrated Mackie, the star of Captain America: Civil War, which, at the moment, had grossed $971.9 million worldwide, is the number one movie at the box office and is, thus far, the highest grossing movie in the world.

It also celebrated his role as Martin Luther King, Jr. in the upcoming HBO film All The Way. The film follows Lyndon B. Johnson—played by Bryan Cranston—as he assumes the office of the U.S. Presidency after the John F. Kennedy assassination. Upon his arrival in the White House, he must work on the passage of the Civil Rights Act. The film was directed by Jay Roach and is based on the play of the same name by Robert Schenkkan.

Cranston, who was also in attendance at the dinner, was one of the many VIPs who witnessed artist Paul Gerben present Mackie with a customized painting of his Captain America character, The Falcon, in honor of the film’s success. JetSmarter also presented the actor with a free flight to make the trip from his hometown of New Orleans easier and more luxurious when traveling to Los Angeles or New York.

Attendees noshed on items like pan con tomate, hot pretzel steak tartare, Peruvian ceviche, crispy bao buns, charred tomato pizza, ribeye, branzino, churros and nutella canolli.

The evening ended as Mackie and Cranston headed uptown for a Q&A to discuss their new film, which will be released this Saturday, May 21.
