Being blessed with a Michelin star is like having a Kardashian promote your product; it is instantly going to be more popular. The industry-setting Michelin guide granted ten new New York restaurants with their first ever star, and we can’t wait to try them all.

The recently released 2016 ratings gave 76 honored establishments a spot on the coveted Michelin star list. While the three-star list remains untouched, The Modern was the only new eatery to get a two-star rating, and an impressive ten joined the one-star group.

Congratulations and welcome these haute new spots to the Michelin club:

Tempura Matsui
Sushi Yasuda
Cagen
Semilla
The Finch
Hirohisa
Somtum Der
Gabriel Kreuther
Uncle Boons
Rebelle

While Japanese cuisine represents the majority amongst this year’s winners (Sushi Yasuda, Tempura Matsui, Hirohisa, Cagen), the choices reflect a wide variety of cuisines. A true note to the city as a melting pot. Semilla in Brooklyn, the vegetable-forward restaurant, will make Vegetarians proud as it received a star within the first year of opening. One other Brooklyn newcomer made the list; The Finch serves traditional American fare with an upscale twist.
