Haute Event: The Atlanta Boat Show Starts Today
Boating enthusiasts: it’s that time of year again. Georgia’s premier boating event, the Progressive Atlanta Boat Show 2014 starts today. The show, which runs through January 12 will be showing the largest variety of boats and watercrafts in the Southeast at the Georgia World Congress Center. From the newest boats and accessories to attractions for the whole family, the show is one you don’t want to miss. With more than 500 boats on display, from 9 feet to 50 feet, more than 200 exhibitors offering the latest gear and gadgets. From fishing vessels to luxury yachts and wakeboarding boats, it’s all here.
This year, highlights include watching expert handler Jeff Quattrocchi catch an eight foot alligator during his educational and thrilling Swampmaster Gator Show. After the show, children are invited to hold a baby alligator and take a picture with the Swampmaster. So, while you are perusing the luxury yachts, your family can catch one of the three shows that the Swampmaster has each day. Also, enjoy Rockin’, Rollin’ Bubbles. Climb inside to try the newest craze in water walking sports — Rollers! Take a spin across the pool running like a hamster or try log rolling tricks! But for those serious boating fans, make sure you don’t miss the all new Miss GEICO Racing Boat. At approximately 11,000 pounds and 50ft long, she is almost 1,500 pounds lighter than her predecessor and is equal in length. She has a 12-ft. beam, which is 6-ft. wider than the former boat; the extra width will allow her to ride smoother at faster rates of speed. And her current speed tops 170 mph.
