Guess How Much One Ticket to the NBA Finals Costs?

An experience usually enjoyed by the likes of Rihanna, Jay-Z, Jack Nicholson, and Drake, snagging a seat court side at any NBA game is a considerable luxury, grabbing a seat at the NBA finals, even more still. Touching hardwood at this year’s NBA finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers seems to be an experience reserved for only the uber-wealthy.

Last night, a court side ticket at game one sold for an astronomical $36,843.The sale took place on NBATickets.com, the resale site for the league run by Ticketmaster.

The high prices are likely due to the pedigree of the players on the court. Golden State Warrior point guard Stephen Curry is this year’s NBA MVP, while Cleveland Cavalier Lebron James is, undisputedly, the biggest star in the league, with two NBA championships and four MVP seasons under his belt.

Both teams are also exceedingly easy to root for. The Warriors haven’t won an NBA title in 40 years, while the Cavs have never won the championship in their history, though they have come close a handful of times with James at the helm. Cleveland’s larger sports history is even more checkered. The city’s sports fans haven’t enjoyed a major sports title of any kind since 1964 when the Browns won the NFL title.

With all the extra hype and anticipation, ticket prices have doubled on the resale market. We expect there to be even more expensive tickets to be sold if the series goes the distance.
