Anne Burrell Hosts This Year’s Diamond Dishes Dinner at South Beach Wine & Food Festival

Baseball and food may be a common combination, but get ready to ditch the hotdogs and cracker jacks.  The 2013 South Beach Wine and Food Festival is around the corner and is holding its annual Diamond Dishes Dinner presented by Creekstone Farms with special guest manager Anne Burrell on Sat., Feb. 23 from 7p.m.-10p.m.  The event will take place at Marlin’s Stadium and will offer up some of the best food that can be eaten in a ballpark.

Named after Diamond Dishes, Marlin’s co-owner, Julia Loria’s cookbook, the event allows foodies to go from base to base trying different dishes with the featured chefs stationed at each base.  Serving it up this year is an all-female roster in a league of it’s own, including Michelle Bernstein, April Bloomfield, Jeni Britton Bauer, Stephanie Izard, Julie Loria, and Naomi Pomeray, and Andrea Robinson.images-4

One chef particularly excited is Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, who is serving her unique desserts from the dugout.  “They’re really beautiful little ice cream sandwiches,” explains Bauer. Which she and her team are driving down in a refrigerated truck from her hometown of Columbus, Ohio.  “We we’re just too scared to let them out of our hands,” she says. While she is serving her wares at a few other SOBEWFF events as well, she has special caramel corn ice cream sandwich for Diamond Dishes that keep with the baseball theme.

In addition, master sommelier Andrea Robinson will be in charge of the wine list, so all palettes will be satisfied with a perfectly paired wine with their dinner. If you need more incentive to attend this scrumptious dinner, Delta, the host of this year’s event will be giving away four all-inclusive vacations as a part of a silent auction at each base.  Those who attend the event will be able to bid on trips to London, South America, and Chicago while simultaneously consuming food-network fare.  Net Proceeds will also go to the Mayor’s Fund for NYC Hurricane Relief and the Food Bank For New York City which both help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Gates open at 7 p.m. at the Clevelander for a reception held by Julie Loria.  Tickets for the event cost $225, and the event will be held at 501, Marlins Way, Miami FL 33125.
