$5.85 Million for Breakfast at Tiffany’s Townhouse
The four-story townhouse where Holly Golightly lived in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, 50 years ago is now on the market for $5.85 million, the Times reports. The townhouse has changed a bit from that time. However, in 2008 Peter Bacanovic, a management consultant and former Merrill Lynch broker purchased the home for $1.88. Since then, Bacanovic has been sentenced to jail in Martha Stewart’s insider trading case and is ready to sell. Since 169 East 71st Street has been divided into two duplexes, it will require some work for an owner that prefers a single-family home. There’s still a debate whether or not all of the townhouse was featured in the film. In fact the exterior was definitely used in the film, but it’s not clear whether the interiors were used. Despite the uncertainty, the next owner certainly will have the right to brag.
