Haute Events: This Weekend’s Miami International Boat Show and Yacht & Brokerage Show

Looking for something to do this weekend? Anchor yourself at Megayacht Row. The 70th annual Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail Miami, along with the Yacht & Brokerage Show, are expected to attract more than 100,000 locals and visitors to Miami Beach this weekend. The fun starts today with events taking place through Feb. 21, giving you good reason to live in Miami.

And we mean really live. Take the Ferretti Group’s Aquariva Gucci as a prime example. Making its U.S. debut, this made-to-order vessel customized by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini is a highly coveted collaboration of on-the-water marvel. Together, Gucci, Riva, and Officina Italiana Design celebrate la dolce vita.

Whether you already embrace the boating lifestyle and are looking to upgrade, or are in the market, the next four days offers visitors the chance scope the newest models. From cruisers to sport fishers to yachts and mega-yachts from the world’s most esteemed boat builders, the best the industry has to offer will be on display in an in-the-water collection of hundreds of boats and nautical accessories.

The Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail will exhibit the latest powerboats, sailboats, and engines, cutting-edge marine electronics and accessories, and the best in nautical gifts, services, and apparel at The Miami Beach Convention Center, Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center, with Strictly Sail taking place at Miamarina at Bayside. This year’s show features the “Queen of the Show,” the world debut of the Marlow Explorer 97E; EGO, the first semi-submarine for consumers; Hacker-Craft 30’ Sport, bringing a modern twist to an American classic; TUI Marine’s Leopard 44 Catamaran, the newest generation of cruising Catamarans; Pegasus, the world’s only hands-free diver propulsion vehicle; and even the Tupolev 007, one of the oldest and most remarkable pieces of formerly secret service Soviet machinery to be flushed out by the blossoming of a Western market economy. Reaching speeds of over 150 miles-per-hour, powered by an MP14 aircraft fighter engine, and valued at $2 million, the Tupolev 007 is the only one of three originally produced still in existence.

The Yacht & Brokerage Show will engage those with eyes for inflatables, cruisers, runabouts, fishing boats, high performance boats, motoryachts, and superyachts. Multi-million dollar yachts will flood Collins Avenue, showcasing over 500 new and pre-owned vessels spread over a billion dollar-mile. New to the Yacht & Brokerage Show this year is Megayacht Row: 20 slips featuring a collection of the biggest boats in the show, boasting the latest technology and design from the world’s premier yacht builders.

IGFA Captains to Speak at The Yacht & Brokerage Show In Miami Beach The IGFA School of Sportfishing will be hosting sixteen “mini-sessions” throughout the weekend. Some of the most experienced fisherman will be on-site giving hot tips and tricks for those who want to improve their fishing skills. Brush up on your Daytime Swordfishing, Conquering Sailfish, and Trophy Snook & Tarpon.

Yacht & Style Soirée Lucky individuals will attend the Yacht & Style Soiree. Hosted by Hope Gainer of Hope International and Northrop & Johnson, this event will include all types of goodies ranging from haute couture fashion, exquisite fine jewelry, a live musical performance debut, and surprise special celebrity guest. Astor & Black Custom Clothiers, a high-end fashion brand that has clothed some of today’s biggest athletes, celebrities, politicians, and business professionals will host a special event aboard an incredible yacht, “Remember When.” This event is sponsored by SuperYachts.com, Christensen, and of course, Haute Living.
