Alex at Wynn Las Vegas Receives 2010 Grand Award from Wine Spectator Magazine

Foodies say that eating at Alex is a life-changing experience. They use phrases like “foodie fantasy come true,” “no detail is left undone” and “achingly delicious” in Zagat. From the first steps down the sweeping staircase to the last nibble of dessert, the experience can change your view of New French cuisine.

Now the namesake restaurant of chef Alessandro Stratta at Wynn Las Vegas can add a new accolade to its already brimming case. The restaurant received the coveted 2010 Grand Award from Wine Spectator magazine. Alex joins an elite group of 75 dining establishments around the world to receive the Grand Award, the magazine’s highest honor.

Don’t think this is the first time Alex has been honored. Since the 2005 opening of Wynn Las Vegas, Alex has been a two-time recipient of two Michelin stars and has been repeatedly awarded five stars by Forbes Travel Guide.

Chef Stratta serves dishes that reflect the changing seasons and continuously capture the essence of classic French Riviera cuisine. To complement Stratta’s menu, Danielle Price, the executive wine director of Wynn Resorts, worked with master sommelier Paolo Barbieri to create a diverse wine list composed of 2,200 selections from the world’s finest producers, which includes the largest selection of Madeira in America, a collection that dates back to the 18th century.

On Oct. 30, Price, Barbieri and the Alex beverage team will receive the honor with fellow winners at the New World Wine Experience Grand Awards Banquet in Las Vegas.

Wine Spectator magazine began its recognition of the world’s best wine programs 30 years ago, and will continue the tradition of profiling the year’s victors in the Aug. 31 issue of the magazine. Restaurants are selected based on their superior wine lists in addition to outstanding food, service and ambience.

Alex is located at Wynn Las Vegas, 702.248.3463.
