The 2016 presidential election is tonight, and—depending upon who becomes the country’s 44th president, be it Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump—the evening is going to be a milestone. Here are five great places to see history be made in Los Angeles … places where you’ll be equally at home popping champagne or crying into your whiskey on the rocks.

1 Taste on Melrose

If your entire day is dedicated to watching the election, Taste is the place to do it. Starting at 11:30 this morning, you'll be able to watch the 2016 presidential election go down on the eatery's atrium on a big screen projector. In honor of the big day, you'll be able to order from the happy hour menu all day long. Head bartender Mark Fantasia will also be creating red, white and blue-themed cocktails in honor of the event. Make sure to show your "I Voted" sticker as well—you'll receive a free glass of champers.

2 AR Cucina

AR Cucina
AR Cucina, a new Italian eatery from "Top Chef" star Akasha Richmond in Culver City, will also be airing the election all night long. Those who show off their "I Voted" sticker will be able to order off the happy hour throughout the evening. Make sure to try the prerequisite Nasty Woman (with cinnamon-infused whiskey) and Bad Hombre (mezcal and chili liqueur) cocktails to show off your presidential preference while dining on special dishes like Grandma's Pie—square pan pizza with tomato sauce, basil and mozzarella or with onions, roasted peppers & pepperoni—and Akasha's Cannoli's: ricotta, chocolate and candied orange.

3 Plan Check Kitchen + Bar

Plan Check Kitchen + Bar
Plan Check, like many of the L.A. institutions offering election night specials—is offering a Nasty Woman and a Bad Hombre. All three of the eatery's locations, however, are upping the ante: the NW and BH are, in fact, burgers, not, drinks. Both, as can be expected, are spicy: the Nasty Woman burger is made with Sriracha leather, while the Bad Hombre has habanero cheese and spicy mayo. Wash your choice down with drinks like The Candidate, made of gin and elderflower and Make Americanos Great Again, which includes whiskey, Campari and Yellow Chartreuse in the recipe.

4 Harlowe

Turn in your ballot and cleanse your palate with 1933 Group on election day. Gloat your "I Voted" sticker and receive one complimentary shot of booze before sitting down to watch the election at this haute, speakeasy-style drinking den. Trust us, win or lose, you're going to need it.

5 Big Bar

Big Bar
Big Bar has one of the most innovative election night plans in Los Angeles. As each state reports its results, guest bartender Tobin Shea of Redbird will serve up that state's historical cocktail with either a red or blue coaster per the outcome. The drinks will become available after the reports come in. What will you be drinking? Shea's Madame President is made of Appleton 12yr rum, Campari, Dolin sweet vermouth and grapefruit radler, while the Mister President includes Appleton 12yr rum, Campari and Carpano antica. The winning cocktail will be available for the rest of the month (not the next four years, as it were).
