Ever wonder what the most powerful leaders, business execs and celebrities keep on their desks? Well, we’re about to tell you. Our biweekly “What’s on My Desk” feature will take a look inside the offices and at the desks of the world’s most influential power players.

This week we’ve featured the desk of James Brennan, the CEO of Enlightened Hospitality Group who also happens to be an award-‐winning restaurateur and one of San Diego’s most successful entrepreneurs. Brennan, a native of New York, has been referred to as San Diego’s King of Nightlife and been named to the National Nightclub Top One Hundred list with the likes of Rande Gerber and Ian Schrager.  In 2009, Brennan joined forces with Top Chef alum and judge/mentor of ABC’s The Taste, celebrity chef Brian Malarkey, to form Enlightened Hospitality Group. Shortly after, the pair opened their first restaurant concept, Searsucker. Just a few years later, EHGRP owns and operates Searsucker San Diego, Searsucker Austin, Searsucker Del Mar, Herringbone La Jolla and their most recent addition, Herringbone L.A. at Mondrian Los Angeles on the Sunset Strip. Here is a peek at the items on this nightlife impresario’s desk.

  • “Person of the Year” Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego
  • Framed is “35 Reasons Why We Love Daddy”-A 35th birthday present from his children
  • University of San Diego paperweight-James graduated from USD
