1 Ajax Tavern
Sun-drenched patios with mountain views almost guarantee a happy hour, but pair it with fresh oysters and it's sublime. From 3 to 6 p.m. at the Ajax Tavern, diners can enjoy $2 oysters and $3 beers. If you're looking for something more filling, order the infamous $15 double-double burger and a beer combo.
Belly up to the bar at this Italian staple for excellent prices on delicious wood-fired pizzas and glasses of wine. The veggie--shredded zucchini, squash and carrots with fresh pesto--is a favorite for $7; pinot grigio and chianti make it a meal. Happy hour runs from 3 to 5:30 p.m., or until 6:30 p.m. at the bar.
3 La Palapa
When it comes to Latin-inspired fare, this little gem has the best happy hour in town. Margaritas for $4, Dos Equis pints for $2 and $5 sangrias are great thirst-quenchers from 4 to 6 p.m., and rotating specials from tostadas to Mexican pizza satiate hungry patrons in the mood for a post-hike or pre-dinner snack.
4 Justice Snow's
Tucked into the main floor of the Wheeler Opera House, this locally owned and operated restaurant is known for craft cocktails that are more of an art form than a drink. But when it's time to get down to business, a shot and a beer are only $3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
5 Zane's Aspen
For the gritty wings-and-a-beer experience, look no further than Zane's Tavern. The sports bar has two locations, one in Aspen and another in Snowmass, and they're always full of football fans and apres-ski drinkers. The prices can't be beat: 40 cent wings and $1.25 Bud drafts.
