Coldplay Announces Two Barclays Concerts, One On New Year’s Eve With Jay-Z

Two of the biggest musical acts in the world will co-headline a New Year’s Eve concert at the city’s most-discussed stage: Coldplay and Jay-Z are coming to the Barclays Center on December 31.

Jay-Z only just wrapped up an eight-concert marathon at the Downtown Brooklyn behemoth. His return with Coldplay suggests that the rapper won’t be a stranger to the sports and entertainment complex now that he’s christened it. (Jay is a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets, who call Barclays home.) As for the pairing of New York hip-hop and airy Brit rock, it’s not a total surprise–Jay and his wife Beyonce are good friends with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and his better half, Gwyneth Paltrow.

Tickets to the NYE show range from $59-551 and go on sale Saturday morning, as do $59-$203 tix for the December 30 joint performance.
