As the mariachis tune their strings and the agave plants are desecrated in honor of Cinco de Mayo, South Floridians should prepare for another feast. Alongside the touted Mexican holiday will be another reason to celebrate in Coral Gables.
Successful Palm Beach-based restaurateur Carmine Giardini, owner/operator of Carmine’s Restaurant Group, will launch his latest venture in Village of Merrick Park called Cinco Cantina & Tequila Bar. In traditional fashion, the interior is clad in rustic and colorful features. The expansive and eclectic menu, created and executed by Chef John Belleme, formerly of Umi Fishbar and Grill, along with his talented staff, will offer made-to-order guacamole, shrimp empanadas, green chile chicken Caesar salads, ceviches, raw oysters, Cuban sandwich with Mexican bent, and more classic dishes like chiles rellenos, tacos, and tamales as well as a bevy of desserts.
“I’m thrilled to finally have a chance to cook this type of food and work with the great ingredients and multi-layered flavors that Mexican cuisine has to offer. The menu will playfully pay homage to authentic Mexican cuisine and have something for everyone,” said the respected chef.
The restaurant boasts a 366 person capacity, making optimal grounds to host a party or event, with a ample dining room, bar, outdoor patio, and two private rooms. Cinco’s hip Mexi-vibe will attract foodies, socialites, and shoppers roaming the designer boutiques that line the al-fresco shopping center.
Cinco Cantina will be open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m and host a nightly Happy Hour. Expect the Tequila bar to serve up the most touted spirits from here to Mexico. With its lively ambiance, it should become one of Coral Gable’s hottest new watering holes.
