One of Atlanta’s longest-running New Year’s Eve celebrations just got an extra dose of star power this year, as Tito Jackson of the legendary Jackson 5 will be headlining this year’s festivities. For its 22nd year, the hugely popular and massively attended Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta has pulled out all of the stops with the addition of Tito Jackson as the special guest. Word also has it that Katherine Jackson, the legendary matriarch of the Jackson family, will also be on hand to make an appearance and possibly ring in the New Year with thousands of Atlanta fans and partiers.
In addition to performing several of the beloved hits from the Jackson 5 catalog, Tito Jackson will also perform songs from his first solo album entitled So Far, So Good which will be officially released in February 2011. Jackson will take the stage promptly at 11:30 p.m. so make sure you don’t miss it! A host of other Jackson family members will be in attendance, as this performance will be the kick-off for Jackson’s World Unity Tour 2011. Mayor Kasim Reed will join the Jackson family members on stage for the countdown of the final minutes of 2010 and to watch the famed giant peach descend into the night.
Other performers for the highly anticipated Peach Drop celebration include: UltraDrive (a modern rock band) who will perform at 9:30 p.m. and Separate Ways (a tribute band to the legendary rock collective Journey) who hits the stage at 8 p.m. Both bands are sure to provide some great music to bring in the New Year in a festive way. After 2011 is brought in properly, the parties continue at the bars and clubs in Kenny’s Alley inside Underground Atlanta, including the recently opened Georgia Peach Restaurant & Lounge, Footprints Jamaica Restaurant and Fuzion Showcase Lounge until 4 a.m. This is one New Year’s celebration that will be the talk of the town for quite some time!
