Haute Art: Honolulu Academy of Arts Presents Renowned Collectors’ Gifted Art

In 2008 American art collectors Dorothy and Herbert Vogel — who amassed a collection of nearly 5,000 works in their one-bedroom New York City apartment — launched a national gifts program that gave 50 modern art pieces to a selected art institution in each of the 50 states, including Hawaii. The Honolulu Academy of Arts unveiled its 50 works — by renowned artists including Robert Barry, Bill Jensen, Mark Kostabi and Edda Renouf — in an exhibition that runs through May.
