Brioni Celebrates 65 Years of Excellent Italian Design
It is always great news when a respected fashion house celebrates milestones and achievements. That’s why we were ecstatic to hear that Brioni, the Italian brand founded in Rome in 1945 by Gaetano Savini and Nazareno Fonticoli, celebrated its 65th anniversary with an over the top fete at Cortile della Rocchetta of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan on June 22.
The celebration welcomed an elite entourage of international clients, VIPS, businesspeople, authority figures, and more. Brioni President and CEO Andrea Perrone was there to toast the success of the company, alongside such notables as Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Bruno Vespa, Fabrizio Del Noce, Lamberto Sposini, Mario Boselli, Marta Marotta, Giorgio Forattini, and Alessandro Cecchi Paone. Live music performed by Mario Biondi and up-and-coming talent Karima set the mood for an enchanting and magical occasion.
But the party doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year Brioni will celebrate their 65th anniversary with dedicated events, including the launch of a new fragrance, a prestigious recognition by the Ministry of Culture for Brioni’s historical archives, and the opening of several new stores in emerging markets.
Brioni currently operates 68 boutiques worldwide, with 400 wholesale partners, and their plans to open stores in Shanghai, Beijing, Mexico City, and Barcelona is testament to their dedication to continue to expand the brand internationally. And the company continues to grow into a global lifestyle brand, attracting elite clients in markets from New York City to Rome.
At their headquarters in Rome, Brioni houses an extensive archive showcasing over 700 suits made since the ‘50s. There are also countless sketches, designs, and drafts, as well as 10,000 photographs from the period of La Dolce Vita. The company’s efforts in documenting their history—albeit lending itself also to the history of great Italian craftsmanship, design, and sartorial style—has been recognized by the Italian Ministry of Culture, a huge feat for the label.
The house of Brioni has also referenced its archives for the launch of its newest fragrance, Brioni. They turned to the first line of limited edition men’s grooming products created in 1959—this line included the “Good Luck” eau-de-cologne and was tantamount in celebrating La Dolce Vita. The introduction of their latest fragrance pays homage to this era, while also continuing the tradition of Brioni’s elegant, exclusive, and innovative values.
As Brioni continues to celebrate their 65 years, we look forward to hearing about the new store openings, recognitions, and certainly can’t wait to get a whiff of their latest fragrance.
