Michael Bloomberg Buys London Mansion For $25 Million
You might know Michael Bloomberg as the American business magnate and former Mayor of New York City. Now you’ll know Michael Bloomberg as the new owner of a $25 million London mansion.
The historic property is a truly impressive piece of London real estate. Built in 1715, this seven-bedroom home captures the timelessness of British style and class. The mansion was where famed novelist George Eliot lived and died in 1880. Now 135 years later, it will be inhabited once more. It is reported that he paid a million pounds above asking price, but with a view overlooking the River Thames and a short walk to his other London property in Knightsbridge, Bloomberg has got it all.
The billionaire businessman has formed close ties in the U.K., having received an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II last year. Bloomberg was recognized for his outstanding work in business and philanthropy. He has worked with Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, on city hall initiatives and is a strong advocate for the arts. Not to worry, Bloomberg has no plans of trying to succeed Johnson as London’s mayor.
Bloomberg has an extensive real estate portfolio with a wide variety of properties. His expensive flare for real estate is funded by the billions he made as founder of Bloomberg L.P., a software, data and news platform for financial professionals. Even during his 12 years as New York City’s Mayor, Bloomberg retained ownership and came back at the end of his term in 2014. Bloomberg provides over 15,000 jobs to people worldwide and is currently building a new European headquarters in London that will span nine stories high and have three public green spaces.
All in a days work for Michael Bloomberg.
