I think it’s the preeminent destination for clubbing in America, an Ibiza of the West where people embrace partying as a lifestyle rather than a weekend experience,” says Cy Waits regarding Miami’s nocturnal affairs as we discuss the opening of his new club Adoré. For the past year, he has been busy readying a 12,000 square foot space inside the Boulan Hotel at the corner of 20th and Collins to be open in time for Art Basel and expectations couldn’t be higher, due in large part to Waits’ own history. He has not only helped birth two of Las Vegas’ most popular venues, XS and Tryst nightclubs, but is also responsible for helping cultivate the electronic dance music movement in the Vegas market.

Though many are speculating that his talent lineup will mirror the stacked program that his twin brother has in place at XS, Waits is very quick to point out that, “the focus here is squarely on making the club the star” – though word on the street is that there might be more than one marquee name performing at the club’s anticipated opening.

So what else can we expect from the most expensive club to ever be conceived in South Beach? For starters, it’s the first truly new, not refurbished, venue to hit the beach in seven years. Together with Amy Kim of Los Angeles-based AK Design, Waits and company have created a two-story, tiered space that will afford all patrons excellent sight lines of not only the DJ, but other visual features – such as a half million dollar, six-foot round globe that boasts 3.8 million LED lights.  With niceties like booths that are outfitted with genuine leather and cell phone chargers, Adoré seems poised to set new standards for night clubs.

Adoré also hopes to raise the bar in terms of service. Waits and his partner Cory McCormack, who developed Vegas’ Body English and Rehab pool party, have set on a national casting spree to staff this room.  “We have handpicked the best operating talent in town,” says Waits. “I’ve hired Mansion’s former GM, Sushi Seibert, LIV’s general manager Leo Mancuso, and Marketing Director Justin Hensley from Las Vegas. We also have Story’s Jon Opas and Alex Omes, the co-founder of Ultra Music Festival, who will be our talent director. Together they are helping us understand the needs of the Miami market and create a more refined experience based on what people want.”
