Haute Spots Boston: The Godfrey Hotel

What was once an area of Boston in dire need of a revitalization has been slowly transformed into a thriving residential and entertainment destination. The global recession of 2008 hit the Downtown Crossing area of Boston hard forcing construction projects to be halted for many years. Since then, construction has ramped up and the revived area now features luxury condominiums, high end restaurants and boutique shopping. From Chinatown to the Theater District, the historic area continues to thrive with new construction.

One of the latest additions to the area is The Godfrey Hotel, which is putting on the finishing touches for a fall opening. Here’s a sneak peek inside the Downtown Crossing hotel that is scheduled to open in November.

The Godfrey Hotel was named for its description “peace” and “welcome,” which is how they want their guests to feel when they arrive. The former office and retail building was purchased by Oxford Capital Group, LLC, who has transformed the property into the long awaited hotel located just steps from the Boston Common and Opera House.

Inside the luxury brick and stone boutique hotel, you will find on-site amenities that include a lobby bar, 24-hour fitness center, an on-site restaurant and meeting space for all of the nearby businesses to host a conference. Hotel guests can also choose from studio suites, corner lofts and historic guest rooms with work stations that overlook Downtown Crossing. Each of the 238 guest rooms and suites will feature complimentary wi-fi, a 55-inch LED HDTV, spacious glass-enclosed showers, Frette Egyptian cotton linens and Heeley bath products. Other on-site amenities include valet parking, in-room spa services and dry cleaning service.

There is a second Godfrey property in Chicago. The Godfrey Hotel I and Boston will open at 505 Washington Street.
