Haute Event: 2012 Menlo Horse Show til 8/12 and Dinner Dance on 8/10

Since 1970, the Menlo Charity Horse Show has been home to top show jumping and horse showing in Northern California. Menlo showcases hunters and jumpers from the West Coast, Canada and Mexico with classes running simultaneously in three separate rings daily.   The Olympic sport of Grand Prix Show Jumping where equine athletes compete over obstacles as big as 5’6″ in height and as much as four feet in width is not to be missed.  This week long event will continue until this Sunday, 8/12/2012.   With the weekend weather looking beautiful, we can’t wait to head on over with our Pimms cup in hand and a hat in the other.  A wonderfully casual, family friendly affair, this is a highlight in any equine lover’s calender.

But a proper sporting event like this would not be complete without some souvenirs.  Instead of your pedestrian foam fingers or what not, Menlo is also home to some of the most affluent vendors.  Shopping enthusiasts will be delighted by Vendor Row boutiques offering high fashion, fine jewelry, equine apparel, horse care products, home furnishings, fine art and sculpture and the Shows’ commemorative T-shirts and sportswear.  Haute Living strongly suggests visiting the finely curated selection from Modewalk and picking up some coveted and hard to procure Theirry Lasry sunglasses or some sumptuous leather goods.

Modewalk available at the Menlo Horse Show

Additionally Menlo provides great dining and entertainment options. Lunch is served daily on the grounds and in the Club House.  Full bar service (hello gin!) is available in the Club House and on Vendors Row throughout the event.  The signature event is the Dinner Dance that’s happening tomorrow, Friday August 10th.

Location:  Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane, Atherton, CA.
Tickets daily are available at the gate for $10.
Dinner Dance tickets are $225 and available by calling (650)857-0422
