Springtime Arrives at Naya Lounge

Tuesday, March 20th officially marked the first day of spring…and it also marked the launch of Naya Lounge’s new springtime cocktail menu! Black LAB Ventures Mixologist Joel Black, who has worked with more than 30 restaurants nationwide including downtown’s Caña, lent his expertise to bring Indian-inspired craft cocktails to this lounge, nestled in Los Angeles’ eclectic Silverlake neighborhood. The focus is on incorporating produce from a local Farmer’s Market, hand-squeezed juices and fruit-infused liquors into the new libations such as the Spa in Goa and the Farmer’s Market, pictured below.

In addition to a new cocktail menu, Chef Imran Mookhi added his new Chai Pani Menu – small bites that are just like the snacks sold by street carts in India. Appetizers to sample include the Moom Phali, a popular Southeast Asian snack of roasted and wok fried peanuts, and the Kabob Paratha, a colorful medley of tandoor ground lamb, naan, vegetables and sauces.

And while many exciting extras have been implemented for the seasonal change, the great aspects that have made Naya a household name will remain. The lounge’s nightly happy hour featuring $5-$6 appetizers and cocktails is still going on, as is lively entertainment on select evenings, including DJs, belly dancers and live percussionists. And Naya Sunset, which is the restaurant separated from Naya Lounge by a billowing midnight blue curtain, continues to whip out tantalizing traditional Indian dishes with a California flair, such as the Sprout Street (left), Sascha’s Garlic Prawns (foreground) and Silky Lamb Kabob (background)  appetizers, pictured below.

Since its launch last October 1st, both Naya Lounge and Naya Sunset have transported guests into an exotic, surreal world of Indian flavors and a sensually engaging ambiance. We’re looking forward to what they’ll have to offer this spring as well!
