The event is a tribute to new and entertainment media organizations, writers, producers, actors and directors for their outstanding work in raising public awareness for animal issues.

To start the evening, “Dancing with the Stars” host Carrie Ann Inaba invited Uggie up to co-present an away and then singer Colbie Caillat performed.

Winners of the evening included, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for outstanding talk show, Gordon Ramsay for his documentary on shark-finning and “The Colbert Report” for the Sid Caesar Comedy award.

Caillat said, “I’m really happy to be here. I’ve never been to the Genesis Awards before. I love animals, so being involved with the Humane Society was just a perfect fit…making people aware of what we can do to make changes and to stop cruelty to animals.”

Musician Moby was also at the event and said, “I think is the eighth time I’ve been to the Genesis Awards. I’ve been a vegan for 25 years, and I’ve worked with the HSUS for decades. Not to sound like a cliché, New-Age hippie, but I love all animal unconditionally.”
