Marina Monroe’s Academy Awards Red Carpet Coverage: Best Dressed List

The world famous 84th Academy Awards were held Sunday night in Beverly Hills and all the hottest stars came out to shine on the red carpet this year.  We were wowed by some and well, luke-warm with others, but as usual we counted down our top 10 looks of the night.

10. Penelope Cruz in Armani

Starting off in our 10 spot is actress and stunner Penelope Cruz.  She looks like a 50’s Disney princess in this flowy blue Armani Privé gown and we love how classically beautiful this look is! The only reason she’s number 10 is simply too many choices!

9. Glenn Close in Zac Posen

At number 9 we have actress Glenn Close wearing a forest green gown by Zac Posen.  We’re loving how chic yet age appropriate it is, with a perfectly tailored matching blazer.  Accessorized simply with diamond earrings, Glenn looks stunning as a mature, 65-year-old woman!

8. Angelina Jolie in Versace

Of course we have Angelina Jolie at number 8, because she’s gorgeous and looks amazing wearing Versace.  It was no different this year as she wore this structured black gown with black pumps, red lips, and the infamous right leg!  She could have done something more daring this year, but decided to make the night about her man and we definitely approve of the look!

7. Rooney Mara in Givenchy

At number 7 we have nominee Rooney Mara wearing a lovely delicate Givenchy gown. This is a unique Oscar look, but we love how she stayed true to her style wearing bold red lips and rocking the blunt bangs. The dress hugs her in all the right places, and she definitely looked like the modern starlet that she is!

6. Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

At number 6 we have Michelle Williams in a flirty peplum coral-red Louis Vuitton dress.  It’s girly and fun so naturally, it was made for Michelle!  We love how she stays true to this style, and it was accessorized perfectly with a dainty bow brooch and diamond necklace.

5. Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Octavia Spencer looks beautiful in our number 5 spot wearing Tadashi Shoji, whom she’s stayed loyal to this awards season.    The dress is draped and rouched to perfection so we couldn’t help but love it!  With a classic updo and a little bling, Octavia definitely took the Oscar–literally!

4. Alex Edenborough

Our number 4 is not so much a celeb, but Gary Oldman’s gorgeous wife, Alexandra Edenborough.  We never caught who made the dress, but we love the sequin detail, especially on the bodice!  This dress is modern and sexy, while Gary is looking strapping as well!

3. Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli

Hollywood princess Emma Stone is a vision in this reddish-pink Giambattista Valli gown.  The color is beautiful on her and we love how she kept the rest of her look simple and fresh.  This is a perfect Oscar look for a budding starlet like Emma!

2. Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab

Actress Milla Jovovich stole our runner up spot in a sparkling Elie Saab gown, and we’re loving this old glamourous look! From her hair to her clutch, she looks beautiful and very Oscar red carpet worthy.

1. Gwenyth Paltrow in Tom Ford

And finally, number 1 is Gwenyth Paltrow wearing an incredible white Tom Ford dress, finishing the look with a perfect white cape!  We’re obsessed with this ensemble as Gwenyth looks effortlessly radiant, and accessorized with chunky diamonds, she had to be number 1!
