There is a new premium lounge at Heathrow airport in London, courtesy of Qatar Airways. The lounge is located airside at Terminal 4.
The new premium lounge is Qatar Airways’ first dedicated area for premium passengers outside of its Doha hub. In Doha, Qatar Airways has an award-winning Premium Terminal. The airline is upping the amount of flights from London Heathrow to Doha from four to five per day as of March 25.
The premium lounge in Heathrow, able to accommodate more than 90 passengers, is for first and business class passengers and was opened by chief executive officer Akbar al-Baker to invited guests. Designed in the style of a boutique hotel or private members’ club, a large portion of the lounge’s staff all come from five star hotels and restaurants. There is a Global Brasserie kitchen, Delicatessen, private shower facilities (with heated floors and mirrors and luxury branded toiletries), free Wi-Fi, power sockets in every seat, a business center with PCs and printers and Signature Martini bar onsite.
Qatar’s Ambassador to the UK, Khalid bin Rashid bin Salim al-Hamoudi al-Mansouri said, “Qatar Airways has been continuously setting the standards in the aviation field across the globe for over a decade. This new lounge raises the bar yet again and reflects all that is best in Qatari standards, hospitality and luxury”
Al-Baker said, “The lounge is the latest development in our rapidly expanding global route network and we are eyeing opportunities to open further airport lounges in destinations where we operate more than two frequencies a day.”
2012 is gearing up to be a busy year for Qatar Airways with new flights launched in nine destinations including Kigali (Rwanda), Gassim (Saudi Arabia), Helsinki (Finland) and Zanzibar (Tanzania).
