Grand Opening of Frank Gehry-Designed Perishing Square Signature Center Tomorrow

The grand opening of the Perishing Square Signature Center – the new and permanent home of the renowned Signature Theatre Company –will be tomorrow, January 31 2012. The Center, which was designed by Frank Gehry, spans an entire city block  at 42^nd Street between Dyer and 10^th Avenue.

The Signature Theatre Company is highly acclaimed for its programming that explores the work of a single playwright each season. The Perishing Square Signature Center will serve as a home for up to 11 artistic playwrights at one time. The expanded programming at the Center will include a wide range of things:

The Residency One is the continuation of Signature Center’s core program. It provides audiences with an in-depth look at the work of one playwright.

Residency Five provides five-yaer residencies for multiple playwrights. It supports the creation and staging of their new work.

The Legacy Program honors the lifetime achievements of artists who previously have been in residence at Signature Theatre Company.
