Haute Event: The 6th Annual Women Against Multiple Sclerosis Luncheon

More than 350 attendees gathered on Thursday, April 28, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort for the Women Against MS Luncheon, presented by Go Daddy, in order to educate the community on the multiple sclerosis and raise funds toward research of the disease.

Nearly 75 percent of all MS patients are women, and when faced with the diagnosis, many of these individuals and their families face physical, information, emotional and financial crises. In order to better educate and galvanize the local community of women against the disease, the Arizona Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society organized its Sixth Annual Women Against MS Luncheon.

Guests enjoyed a fine lunch while during the inspirational programming, which was emceed by Tara Hitchcock of “Good Morning Arizona.” Additional presenters included: keynote speaker Camerone Parker, who is a model, MS advocate and current spokesperson for Olay; as well as Dr. Darin Okuda, who is assistant clinical professor of neurology at the UCSF Multiple Sclerosis Center, a diplomate of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a member of the American Academy of Neurology Committee on Ethics. Dr. Okuda provided attendees with update regarding MS research.

Together the luncheon’s attendees successfully raised more than $70,000 for the cause.
