Haute Fashion: Georgia-May Jagger Launches Her Debut Collection for Hudson Jeans

What do you get when you cross a rock icon and a supermodel? A stunning talent with an inherent eye for great style. Meet Georgia-May Jagger – daughter of legendary Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and ’70s supermodel Jerry Hall, the face of Hudson Jeans herself, and now the edgy new designer behind the Hudson by Georgia-May Jagger Collection.

The stylish young model-cum-designer has admitted to always wanting to be involved in the creative process behind the clothes she dons for the cameras. Of Georgia and her collection, Hudson’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Kim says, “We are  thrilled that  Georgia wanted to play a design role in addition to being the face of the brand for the past three seasons. She is a natural fit for us, being the daughter of a British rock star and an American  supermodel, given with our Union Jack logo and L.A  roots.” Her transition to designer began with her submitting sketches and inspirational photos, including shots of her mother’s days as a Wrangler model and of rock icons Guns & Roses, of which some styles were named after. The sketches included details down to the material, fit, wash, rise, inseam length, and pocket and trim details, of which Jagger oversaw every aspect.

Of her debut collection, Jagger says, “My collection has a whole new cut, they are based on the style of jeans my mum wore in Texas in the ’70s. They are not high-waisted, but they are a mid-rise, which is great for us shorter girls.” It is a collection much like the designer herself – a laid-back and free California vibe with a rebellious London edge.

Hudson by Georgia-May Jagger consists of five styles–the “N.0 The Faye”, “N.1 The Jerry”, “N.2 The Gonzales”, “N.3 The Georgia May”, and “N.4 The Ayesha in black, white, gray, and blue washes, all of which are made of new types of stretch denim fabrics created specifically for her line. Keeping to her glam rock roots, all styles have skinny leg openings with a mid-rise in order to accommodate a wider range of body styles. Accompanied by Hudson’s mini shorts, parkas, hoodies, capes, and leather waistbands, the entire collection is effortlessly chic.

So what is Georgia’s personal favorite piece from her collection? “I love the black skinnies that lace up on the sides because I have wanted them for ages and haven’t found them anywhere. I also wear the grey stonewash pair all the time. This new stretch fabric we use is so comfortable it feels like wearing pajamas, but they look really sexy.”

The Hudson by Georgia-May Jagger launch event will be on March 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills located at 9700 Wilshire Boulevard. The collection will also be available online at www.HudsonJeans.com/GMJ.
