New York Fashion Week: Nautica Unveils Fall 2011 Men’s Collection

Powerhouse fashion label Nautica officially unveiled their men’s Fall 2011 collection earlier today at the Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Upon walking in to the gallery space, Nautica lived up to their brand image as fine purveyors of casual, maritime couture by laying out planks of worn, sandy colored wood as though you were walking out onto a dock or descending a beach walkway. Continuing with this shoreline theme, all models were posed upon a dock-like set piece taking the place of a stage with corded rope wrapped around each large post. So, from the outset it was clear just what direction Nautica would be taking with their latest autumn collection.

As for the clothes themselves, several different styles were on display in various arrangements. Progressing down the line, I was first greeted by lots of sail white cotton, navy, and heather grey, followed by variations of dark wools and Herringbone contrasted by bright flourishes of orange and blue, and ending with more traditionally neutral and complementary combinations of khaki, corduroy, denim, and plaid. It’s safe to say Nautica hasn’t taken attempted any drastic changes in their brand, so if you already consider yourself a fan of their relaxed, blue blood style, you will certainly anticipate their new offerings.
