New Year New Wine: Prego’s Wine Dinner

Resolve to try new wine this year! Sure, you’ve got your favorite pours, but with Prego Ristorante’s first wine dinner of 2011, you can sample tastes from Rocca delle Macie and enjoy the great Italian fare at Prego. They’re pulling out all the stops for the first wine dinner of the year, so make your reservations quick — with a great menu and a great pairing it’s sure to fill up fast.

On Jan. 28th (there’s just one seating at 7 p.m.), Chef Ugo Allesina will present a spectacular five-course meal created to complement the dynamic wines from the Chianti region of Tuscany. Diners will be able to learn about and experience the winery’s varied offerings. The dinner will be priced at $54.95 per guest and includes the appetizers paired with a Galestro and a rustic lentil and sausage soup paired with a Sangiovese. The meal continues with a bowtie pasta with smoked salmon in a cream sauce paired with a Vernaccia and slow-braised bone-in beef accompanied by the Rocca delle Macie’s signature chianti. To finish the meal, Chef Allesina will be serving a chocolate delirium cake paired with the winery’s Moscato.

With so many different wines to taste, you’re sure to find a new favorite to serve and enjoy all year long.

Prego Ristorante is located at 8420 Von Karman Ave., in Irvine. For more information or to make a reservation for the wine dinner, call 949.553.1333 or visit www.pregoristoranti.com.
