Breaking News: Michelin Guide Releases it’s 46 Selections for Chicago Bib Gourmand Designation

As anticipation builds for next week’s big unveiling of the first-ever Chicago Michelin Guide, the Michelin team offered the city a sneak peek last night with the Bib Gourmand selection. The Bib Gourmand designation denotes good cuisine at a reasonable price in a variety of comfort categories. Defined as “Inspectors’ Favorites for Good Value,” Bib Gourmand restaurants offer two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included), and are often of most value to a city’s residents, who regularly dine in neighborhood restaurants.

Forty-six of our favorite restaurants have earned Bib Gourmand status and represents 20 types of cuisine – from American to pizza, gastropub to Chinese. Last night, the Michelin street team traveled to each Bib Gourmand restaurant to stencil a symbol om the sidewalk in front of each lucky restaurant. Both a blessing and possibly a disappointment, the chosen recipients cannot be both Bib Gourmand status and receive Michelin stars so hopefuls are officially now out of the star race.
