Sassy Ladies of the South: The Real Housewives of Atlanta Returns

Get ready to head back down to Atlanta tonight! The immensely popular third installment of the highly addictive Real Housewives franchise begins a new season tonight at 9 p.m. on Bravo. Expect new faces, new alliances and of course, new drama. These sassy Georgia peaches inject a guilty pleasure into Monday night viewing, the let games begin!

There will be many changes tonight when The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns. Obviously there are new cast members emerging and old ones departing. As reported earlier this summer, housewife Lisa Wu-Hartwell is no longer a cast regular, she is not only removed from the opening credits, but she will also only make recurring appearances on the show to be sporadically placed throughout the season. In the revolving door of casting that the Housewives franchise is known for, two new cast members are joining the cast for drama, drama, drama. Atlanta entertainment attorney Phaedra Parks and former international model Cynthia Bailey are the new kids on the block this season and will join current series regulars NeNe Leakes, Kim Zolciak, Sheree Whitfield and Kandi Burruss.

With the Atlanta installment boasting some of the highest ratings in the history of Bravo’s runaway hit, expect more of the same from our favorites Southern belles. It’s been almost a full calendar year since we last saw the ladies and much has changed in their lives. This season we will see NeNe address the myriad of rumors surrounding her marriage and the cheating allegations that have plagued it for months, as well as trying to get her oldest son on the right track after a few run-ins with the law. Sheree attempts to head into the dating scene, Kim deals with all of the Big Poppa drama and the whispers earlier this year that she had embarked on a lesbian relationship and Kandi continues to stage her comeback in the music industry and move forward following the death of her fiancée last year. Which brings us to the two new cast members, Phaedra Parks, a pregnant and newly wed attorney, deals with drama from the ladies regarding her husband’s previous stint in jail on federal charges, while Cynthia Bailey is reeling from a string of broken engagements and attempts to wed her current beau before the cold feet set in. Not one to be left out, “the seventh housewife” as he is affectionately known, Dwight Eubanks is back with his fashion sense and wisdom, however from the previews it looks as though his BFF status with NeNe is on the rocks.

Whew! There is indeed a lot going on with the ladies this season and I can’t wait to see it unfold. With fans that total a whopping 2.82 million viewers a week, expect this show to be the topic of water cooler conversations for the next few months. The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Bravo Mondays at 9 p.m. For more information visit the show website at http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-atlanta .
