Rare, medium or well, it really doesn’t matter how you prefer your steak as long as it’s cooked to perfection, seasoned deliciously and goes down smoothly. There is an art to preparing the perfect steak; a special something that not all can master. When you go out for a hearty steak dinner you not only want a premium cut, but you also want all the fixings that go along with it. Here in Atlanta we know a few things about where to get a great steak at some of the hottest spots. Sit back and enjoy the list of the best places to get a choice cut.
1 BLT Steak
Located inside the ultra chic and lavish W Hotel in downtown Atlanta, BLT Steak is definitely the best of the best. Combining the traditional elements of a French bistro with the classic and beloved components of the American steakhouse enables BLT to provide a one of a kind culinary experience. A great variety of choice cuts are available including: USDA Prime, Black Angus, American Wagyu and Japanese Kobe beef, each perfectly aged for ultimate tenderness and flavor. The hanger steak, rib eye or the classic porterhouse are standouts and absolutely must be sampled upon your visit. However, don’t forget the delectable side dishes because they are what truly makes a great steak dinner; Brussels sprouts and chestnuts with bacon, buttered collard greens and jalapeno mashed potatoes are just a few dishes that complete your meal to perfection. Finish things off with the Crêpe Soufflé and passion fruit sauce. You won’t be disappointed.

2 Kevin Rathbun Steak
The brainchild of popular culinary master Chef Kevin Rathbun, this restaurant consistently ranks at the top of “best of” lists and it is extremely well-deserved. Tucked away inside the Old Fourth Ward district, Rathbun’s is a culinary delight that has just the right amount of down to earth charm and upscale eatery to keep customers feeling satisfied and coming back for more. This award-winning haven has such vast menu choices that it is hard to make a decision. I recommend the dry aged cowboy rib eye, filet mignon or the New York strip for the ultimate meal experience. One of the best things about this place is the different selections of butter to top off your steak; black truffle butter, bleu cheese butter and the roasted garlic butter are supreme choices. For side dishes you must try the elbow mac & cheese tart, summer squash ragout or the silver queen grits. If you still have room for dessert, the black bottom crème brulee, black currant sorbet or the roasted banana crepes are worth the extra calories.

3 Fogo de Chao
Break from tradition with this amazing Brazilian steakhouse that does steak like no other. Internationally known for their unique preparation skills known as the Gaucho Way where they roast their meat over pits of open fire, then they expertly grill each of the 15 different choice cuts served. The rustic, yet elegant interior is extremely welcoming to visitors and regular customers alike. There is so much meat here that it’s hard to narrow down, but here it goes: Picanha, beef Ancho, Alcatra, Fraldinha, Costela, Cordeiro, Frango, Lombo, Linguica and the classic filet mignon are the prime choice cuts offered. The side dishes are so good you will be hard-pressed not to order a second helping. Crispy hot polenta, caramelized bananas and farofa are just a taste of what to expect. Stick around for the signature papaya cream for dessert, it’s absolutely wonderful.

Part of the esteemed group of fine dining establishments in Atlanta; expect an upscale and classy vibe from the onset. The food here is delicious to say the least, while it is classified as a classic American steakhouse; there are several other options that leave just as big of an impression. For lunch, a few choice menu highlights include: tuna lion with lime, bone-in filet, dry aged bone-in rib eye, chili oil and cilantro, almond encrusted scallop salad, mixed grill of domestic lamb chop and sausage with parmesan grits and the sautéed wild salmon with braised white beans & Edwards bacon. The crème brulée with fresh fruit or the signature “mountain high” pie go quite well with a very flushed out wine selection.
