Hot off the presses from just moments ago, the world learned that one of our favorite Americana designers has inked a new deal in the luxury eyewear arena.

Our very own Haute 100 member, Tommy Hilfiger, was part of today’s announcement that his Tommy Hilfiger Group signed on the dotted line with Safilo Group, world leader in the premium eyewear sector, for a licensing agreement to develop, design, produce and distribute Tommy Hilfiger ophthalmic and sunglass products, available Fall 2010.

Quotes from both companies’ reps were typical in their content, each praising the history and excellence of the other. “We are very pleased to begin this new and exciting partnership with one of the world’s leading premium lifestyle brands,” said Roberto Vedovotto, CEO of Safilo Group. “Tommy Hilfiger’s global appeal as a prestigious yet accessible brand will perfectly enhance our brand portfolio. This newly signed agreement gives Safilo a wonderful opportunity to develop an eyewear collection for one of the most recognized American brands in the world.”

Safilo has worked with the names that we love best, including Dior, Giorgio Armani, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Choo, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Valentino. So we deem Tommy as the perfect addition to their haute circle of friends and will wait with baited breath for what is sure to be a spectacular debut.
