Haute Event: The Miami Symphony Orchestra Premieres Its 21st Season
The seasonal melding of society and song is upon us with the recent 2010-2011-season debut of The Miami Symphony Orchestra, MISO, at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. And though it’s a far cry from the delicious soup you order at your favorite Japanese sushi bar, this MISO is hot and delightful in its own right. Opening its 21st season on October 21 with Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7” in A major and closing with Ravel’s “Boléro,” the orchestra, led by music director and conductor Eduardo Maruret, played for a sold-out audience. Renowned trumpeter Arturo Sandoval made a guest appearance with the presentation of Carlos R. Rivera’s “Concierto de Miami for Trumpet and Orchestra.”
