Style guru Hal Rubenstein, one of the founding editors of InStyle, where he spent nearly 20 years as fashion director and most recently editor-at-large, is now the Global Style Director at Gabriel & Co., a fine jewelry design house. In Haute Living’s Week in Review, we turn the spotlight on Charlot D. Malin, who was elected President of the San Francisco Opera Guild, and Graff, which honored honored philanthropists Vanessa Getty, Daniel Lurie and Traci des Jardins at its Union Square boutique.

It’s hard to believe that Quince in San Francisco could get any better but Michael and Lindsay Tusk’s cherished, two-Michelin starred restaurant in Jackson Square did just that. After a two-month closure for renovations wonderfully done by noted local designer Douglas Durkin, Quince recently re-opened to reveal a more intimate and comfortable space. The Tusks responded to the nostalgia their guests felt for Quince’s original location on Octavia Street but managed to still embrace the architecture of the historic 1907 building at Pacific Avenue and Montgomery they moved into five years ago.

When it comes to Dede Wilsey, San Francisco Opera General Director David Gockley said it best when he told an intimate group gathered to toast the philanthropic force of nature, “It’s often said that fundraising is an extreme sport, which would qualify our Dede as an Olympic athlete.” The occasion was “A Paris Holiday, Dinner on the Opera Stage,” which honored Wilsey in the lavish manner to which she is accustomed at the War Memorial Opera House on Dec. 1.
